                             RESOLUTION NO.   20203 
                  
                  
                   A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING AND APPROVING THE
                   APPOINTMENT OF L. JOE FERGUSON AS A MEMBER
                   OF THE ELECTRIC POWER BOARD OF CHATTANOOGA.
                  
                  
                                                    
                  
                  
       	    	 WHEREAS, the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga
       ("Electric Power Board") was created by the General Assembly of
       the State of Tennessee, the Private Acts of 1935, Chapter 455, as 

       amended ("the Enabling Legislation"), the provisions of which are 

       incorporated within the Charter of the City of Chattanooga,
       Tennessee; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the Enabling Legislation provides that whenever
       a term of a member of the Electric Power Board expires, the
       remaining members of the Electric Power Board appoint his or her
       successor, which appointment is to be submitted for confirmation
       by the Mayor and Council of the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee
       within ten (10) days; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, on April 4, 1994, the remaining members of the
       Electric Power Board have by resolution, a copy of which is
       attached hereto as Exhibit A, appointed L. Joe Ferguson a member
       of the Electric Power Board to a term of five (5) years 
commencing
       April 15, 1994; and

       	    	 WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Chattanooga has
       approved and confirmed the appointment, as shown by Exhibit B
       attached hereto;
       	    	 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
       THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the appointment of L. 
Joe
       Ferguson as a member of the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga
       for a term commencing April 15, 1994, and continuing until April
       15, 1999, or thereafter until his successor has been appointed 
and
       qualified, be, and the same hereby is, approved and confirmed.
      
       ADOPTED:	 April 5, 1994
